UVA’s Illimitable features Andrew Mondschein, Assistant Professor of Urban and Environmental Planning, who is researching the impacts of a driverless future. In collaboration with Donna Chen, Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Andrew’s work addresses the future of sustainable transportation systems and their impact on the planning of cities and spaces.  Andrew describes, “They call things like driverless cars disruptive technologies. They’re something that is going to change the way we live. But I think that to be innovative means to not just think about the technologies, but to also think about what the impact of those technologies will be.” Professor Mondschein’s work has been selected by UVA as one of the few large-impact research initiatives featured in their “What else is Possible? When we ask more…” series.
