Biography

As Creative Director of Communications, Ashley generates content and strategy for the School’s digital platforms and all forms of communication outreach. She provides oversight in the planning, coordination, production and publicity of School-wide public programs, including lectures, exhibitions, symposia and other events. She works closely with the Executive Director of Communications and the Communication Team’s Graphic Designer.

Prior to joining the School of Architecture, Ashley was Lab Manager for the UVA Democracy Initiative’s Religion, Race & Democracy Lab, which she helped to launch. In this capacity, she played an instrumental and leading role in developing the Lab’s visual identity, its web presence, its ongoing podcast Sacred & Profane, and its multi-pronged public engagement efforts. She also served as Program Manager for OpenGrounds at UVA.

Ashley worked for over a decade at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, an internationally recognized multidisciplinary arts venue that presents contemporary visual arts, design, performance, and film/video to a wide-ranging audience. At the Walker, across different roles, she developed programming and interpretive learning materials for youth and family audiences; oversaw artist-led public and community programs including workshops, lectures, screenings, performances, tours, symposia, residencies, exhibitions and more; served as Design Studio Manager which included the management and production of publications, catalogs, marketing collateral, signage, and exhibition graphics.
