Kelly Altizer
Biography
Kelly Altizer is an Associate Director of Operations for the UVA School of Architecture's Institute for Engagement and Negotiation. She is passionate about people, natural resources, and problem solving. At IEN she provides enthusiastic project management, facilitation, stakeholder outreach, and community engagement for a wide range of projects, which have included issues of coastal resilience, agriculture, environmental justice, forestry, and conservation, among others. She also coordinated the Virginia Natural Resources Leadership Institute (VNRLI) fo over seven years. Kelly received a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Duke University with a concentration in environmental economics and policy, and a B.A. in Government and Environmental Thought & Practice from the University of Virginia. Kelly and her husband have two incredible kids, one of whom is disabled. Disability advocacy now has a central role in her life, and she is currently learning American Sign Language (ASL).
