Biography
Tom Eitler is an urban planner and land use professional who is a principal at Urban Development Advisors LLC. Urban Development Advisors provides strategic advice to cities, organizations and companies on a wide range of real estate and land use issues including: Revitalization, Real Estate Development, Municipal Finance, Public Private Partnerships, Urban Planning and Design, Sustainability and Resilience, Organizational Structures, Land Economics, Creative Placemaking and Transportation Systems.
From 2006 to 2023 he managed the Urban Land Institute's Advisory Services Program. Since 1947, this program has been providing objective/independent/candid strategic advice to governments, institutions and companies on a wide variety land use, real estate development and public policy issues ranging from economic development, urban design, finance and infrastructure to revitalization, housing and municipal management associated with the built environment. Tom managed over 250 of these Advisory Service Panels in locations as diverse as Durban, South Africa, Hong Kong and Utrecht, Netherlands and more than 100 communities in the US ranging from large metropolitan cities such Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Phoenix and Houston to suburban growth areas like Fairfax County, VA, Fremont, CA and Arvada, CO. In addition, he managed panels in smaller rural communities such as Cashiers, NC, Lamar, CO and Pottstown, PA. His knowledge of local zoning and planning regulations, politics, urban design challenges, and land economics made each of these engagements a success.
